For the past four years, Gigi has managed The Tolpuddle Café in Caledonian Park, building strong relationships within the local community and developing her love for neighbourhood cafés. Opening EARLY BIRD is proudly independent and woman-led — built, run and grown by Gigi herself — bringing together great coffee, quality food and genuine hospitality in the heart of Newington Green.

Nestled in the heart of Newington Green, EARLY BIRD is an independent, women-owned café — more than just a place to grab a coffee, it's a place to meet, connect, relax and enjoy great food and drink in one of London's most vibrant neighbourhoods.
For over 11 years, this kiosk was home to the much-loved Lizzy's on the Green, a cherished part of the local community that created countless memories for residents, families, dog walkers and park visitors. We are honoured to continue that legacy and begin a new chapter while respecting everything that made this place so special.
Meet Gigi & The Team
EARLY BIRD is led by Gigi, who has lived in Islington for the past five years. Although she studied law and began her career in the legal profession, her lifelong passion has always been food, hospitality and creating welcoming spaces where people can come together.
Together with a passionate team, Gigi's vision is simple: to create a warm, friendly and affordable café that welcomes everyone, whether you're grabbing a quick coffee, enjoying breakfast with friends, taking a break during a walk, or treating yourself to an ice cream on a sunny afternoon.
